Why We Started Little Lebowski Church: Building a Dudeist Community for The Abiding Grove
New stuff has come to light, man.
What started years ago as a small travel photo project slowly evolved into something much bigger. The Little Lebowski Project began with a simple idea: carry a small Dude figure around the world, take photos, meet people, and enjoy the journey.
At first it was just fun.
But after traveling through different countries, cities, cultures, and communities, something became clear: people everywhere are searching for many of the same things.
People want security.
People want meaningful relationships.
People want food freedom, housing freedom, and the ability to live with less stress.
People want to connect, create, play, and feel like they belong somewhere.
And maybe most importantly, people want the freedom to simply abide.
Travel Taught Us That Community Matters
Travel has a strange way of pulling back the curtain.
No matter where you go — whether it is a crowded city in Asia, a quiet village in Europe, a campground in America, or a local festival — people often want similar things.
Community
Creativity
Connection
Nature
Play
Peace of mind
Modern life often pushes people in the opposite direction.
People are more connected digitally than ever before, but many feel isolated.
People have access to more information than ever before, but often feel overwhelmed.
Everyone seems to be rushing somewhere.
The simple art of slowing down has become surprisingly difficult.
That realization became part of the reason we decided to create Little Lebowski Church.
What Is Little Lebowski Church?
Little Lebowski Church is inspired by Dudeist philosophy: taking life a little easier, staying mindful, building community, and keeping your mind limber.
But this is not about strict rules or heavy doctrine.
Little Lebowski Church is about creating a community where people can:
gather together
host local events
build friendships
organize games and tournaments
support creativity
learn practical skills
reconnect with nature
It is a place for people who believe that life should include more than work, stress, and rushing around.
The Vision: The Abiding Grove
The next chapter of this journey is called The Abiding Grove.
The Abiding Grove is a future community and gathering place designed around sustainable living, intentional community, creativity, games, and fellowship.
